I am back and it has been fun!

I have been using my technology research not only for school but some personal use as well!  Lets start with buisness.....

Confer--what a cool app this is for tracking your students progress and it makes it easy too.  This app can be used for any subject and can track/sort/display in a variety or ways--you just need to decide.  I was working with a college from another school who brought this to my attention.  She works at as a 6th grade teacher in Shorewood.  She uses Confer to organize her notes on her reading students, track progress, and take notes.  Its really pretty simple....put your class in and start typing notes.  Once a note is put in the app saves it so it can be added at anytime for other students or observations.  It allows for the comment to go in with a few simple clicks even if it is a few sentences long.  The app also allows you to put in a reading level....well any level even for math.  You can go by the SMI score, Lexile level, Aims score, guided reading level.  The choice is yours.  As the teacher you can look back and see where the student started, has grown, things you feel they need to work on....It is like a virtual portfolio for the students as you track their progress through the year.

Now on to the personal.....A baby monitor that works with the ipad/iphones!!!  How great is that!  I can securely---key word there--and remotely check on my baby from my devices even when outside of the house.  The app is free and all I need to do now is to set it up.  It did not have stellar reviews online--but it was a gift and I am not saying no!  2 way communication, IR cam, motion alarm, sound alarm.....so many pluses!  

On the Iphone chant.....I have not gotten the new one yet....waiting for the bugs to be worked out, stock in stores to get there, and to decide 5c or 5s.  Either way it will be light years ahead of my lovely 3g!!!!
